Are you feeling called to the healing art of breathwork? Perhaps you'd like to teach breathwork, or want to go deeper into your own practice. Perhaps you have been curious to use breathwork in deeper subconscious healing and want to build your foundations on somatic modalities of healing. Perhaps you'd like to start facilitating breathwork sessions in your community.

In Intro to Breathwork, you will learn to develop the intuitive skills, boundaries, the practical knowledge, the science, the deep rooted cultural history, energy guidance, techniques of visual meditation, novice crystal usage, and applied practice of the foundations of breathwork. We're mixing the science, the woo, learning to hold space, facilitate sessions, and developing grounding practices. This is an incredible comprehensive introduction to breathwork that integrates the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of this practice.

This training caters deeply around personal healing and releasing blockages that will ultimately ignite you as a breathwork facilitator and you'll be able to implement your learnings right away.

Background of the training

Breathwork is an ancient practice utilized by many indigenous cultures and some form of breathwork has existed in every corner of the world for centuries. As many have adapted and built upon breathwork practices, we’ve lost much of the cultural and indigenous roots the practices from which the practices derive. You may hear of breathwork under many trademarked names that refer to this ancient practice.

We’ll train in a unique style of breathwork I’ve adapted and created, FLOW Breathwork. It is a blend of ancient breathwork, movement, energy healing, the elements, and dance. It’s truly the most potent form of somatic healing that lets you tap into both the masculine and feminine energies in the body.

This training heavily focuses on acknowledging and honoring the roots of the practice, learning about the physical science behind breathwork, touches upon the woo and spiritual aspects, provides a supportive container for deep healing, and prepares you to become a conscious, mindful, breathwork facilitator. This training is catered to those looking to learn applied breathwork techniques for practical and everyday use.

This training is highly decolonized and empowers you to both become a facilitator within your community, and receive deep healing for yourself on your personal growth journey.

Hour Requirements

Introduction to Breathwork requires 25 hours facilitating breathwork and 25 hours attending breathwork sessions. These sessions can be in-person or virtual. We will set you up with your graduating co-hort so there will be ample opportunities for practice and facilitation, and to coordinate across time zones with each other. Breathwork facilitation is an experiential practice and all completed hours are required to receive certification.

Levels

Training through AlwaysPlay Studios x The Integrative Healing Academy heavily focuses on preparing you to bring breathwork to your community in a mindful, conscious, and prepared way, especially right now as healing is needed for our collective. These trainings aren’t set up to keep you going through training after training while your community waits for healing. We’d like you to have the tools, support, and practice to bring your healing art to others. With that said, facilitators are asked to continue their own personal education and healing beyond the trainings to continuously develop as an integrative facilitator.

Introduction to Flow Breathwork (Level 1) is curated and intended to equip you with everything you need to start bringing breathwork techniques to your communities upon completing your required practice hours right away. Further practice is always recommended to continue evolving as a facilitator.

Deepening the practice Flow Breathwork (Level 2) is for facilitators wanting to learn how to deepen their practices and expand offerings in a soul aligned way. We focus on MOVEMENT based breathwork practices that activate the feminine. Pre-requisite: Introduction to Breathwork (Level 1) and all completed hours are required for this training.

In person trainings are currently suspended.

Prepare

Bring a yoga mat or something comfy to lay on, cushion or pillows, water, crystals if you'd like, a journal, and something to write with. You will receive a course manual. It is recommended not to eat heavily when you arrive in the morning. You will practice breathwork as well as facilitate. Come with an open heart and ready to share. More details will be shared with you once you are registered.

The intention of this inclusive training is to prepare you to facilitate breathwork in a safe container. You will receive a certification of competition after completing practice hours and submitting evaluation.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

Hi, I’m Shanila. I am an integrative wellness leader, a 4th generation sound healer, breathwork coach, women’s researcher, and national speaker. I’m the founder of AlwaysPlay Studios and The Integrative Healing Academy, which trains sound healers and breathwork facilitators, and THE PLAYGROUND which mentors leaders in health and wellness. I’m committed to support healers, coaches, and wellness professionals putting in the applied healing work in communities and spaces where it can make an impact. I practice integrative wellness - considering a person's emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. I love to mix the science and the woo in my practice and hope that I’m able to reach people who may feel that wellness is inaccessible to them, especially in underrepresented, underserved, and marginalized communities.

I’m interested in decolonized wellness, support conscious facilitators to put in real applied work in the wellness industry, and have a real world approach to my life’s work. I’ve created AlwaysPlay Studios and The Integrative Healing Academy trainings with the vision of honoring the lineages of where our practices come from, learn the science, and have the uncomfortable inequality conversations around health and wellness. I mission is that we are all able to have access and knowledge of the healing tools that help heal us from the inside out.

My background is in tech, having co-founded an award winning web agency, and in women’s research, specifically in mindsets, implicit bias, perfectionism, women's health, and societal experiences supported through the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Health, and several universities. I’m one of the first practitioners to receive grants to support clinical population with sound baths, breathwork, and holistic modalities, and with that support, have been able to implement low cost wellness offerings, programs in women’s shelters, veteran’s legions, and community offerings to help close the wellness accessibility gap. Currently I am co-producing a global wellness festival and mentoring wellness entrepreneurs. Check out upcoming sound bath and breathwork facilitator trainings here.

Registration is non-transferrable and non-refundable
